Chronic Pain
Serving Sugar Land & Houston
Living with chronic pain can be exhausting—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Because of this, Dr. Angela Pfeiffer and Dr. Margaret Tripp specialize in chronic pain management and treatment.
Many individuals we work with have already pursued extensive medical care, tried multiple treatments, and are still left managing daily discomfort or limitation. Over time, this can lead to frustration, discouragement, and a sense that options are running out.
At our practice in Sugar Land, serving the greater Houston area, we offer a thoughtful, evidence-informed approach to chronic pain, including Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), designed to address the neurological and psychological components of persistent pain.
Understanding Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is complex. The term refers to any pain that has lasted more than 3 months.
In many cases, even when an initial injury or medical condition has improved, the pain can continue due to changes in how the brain and nervous system process signals. Chronic pain can actually occur in the absence of any bodily injury.
This does not mean the pain is “in your head.” It means the pain is real—and being generated or amplified by learned neural pathways.
Common examples include:
- Back, neck, or musculoskeletal pain
- Headaches or migraines
- Fibromyalgia-like symptoms
- Persistent pain without a clear ongoing medical cause
